Job summary

Houston Pets Alive! seeks a dedicated Veterinary Technician - HPA! Rescue to lead medical care for foster and in-house animals, manage appointments, medical records, and supplies. The role is on-site and includes supervising kennel staff and ensuring humane, timely treatment.

You will support surgery days, maintain inventory, and provide excellent service to fosters and staff while adhering to SOPs and regulations. Competitive pay and benefits accompany this full-time position.

Qualifications

• Minimum experience as a veterinary technician in a clinic or shelter/rescue setting.
• Strong knowledge of animal care, medical protocols, and handling of cats and dogs.

Responsibilities

• Lead medical care for foster and in-house animals under veterinary supervision.
• Diagnose, treat, and follow up on medical cases; administer medications and vaccines.
• Maintain medical records and manage medication inventory; restock supplies.
• Oversee scheduling of foster medical appointments and coordinate with veterinarians.
• Provide occasional surgery support and kennel coverage as needed.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs, OSHA, and Texas veterinary regulations.
• Deliver excellent customer service to fosters, adopters, and staff.
