City of Longview seeks a veterinary technician to assist in shelter care, maintain medical records, and oversee inventory. The role supports veterinarians in examinations, surgeries, and daily operations, with emphasis on animal welfare and accurate documentation.

Qualifications include an Associate degree in vet study, Texas LVT certification preferred, valid driver’s license; completion of TVMA CVA I within a year of hire; and the ability to lift up to 60 pounds in a busy shelter environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in a field related to veterinary study; and two year’s experience as a licensed Veterinary Technician; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Certification as a Texas Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) is preferred. Maintain possession of euthanasia certificate. Successful completion of TVMA’s CVA I test within one year of hire.

Responsabilités

• Assists in all phases of shelter veterinary care and maintains medical records.
• Maintains medical inventory and assists with daily shelter operations.
• Assists veterinarian during surgery and exams; restrains animals as needed.
• Performs hygiene duties and euthanasia as required.
• Responds to public inquiries about shelter programs and policies.
