Job summary

Google is seeking a UX Research Manager for Google Labs to co-lead research strategy and operations across exploratory 0-to-1 bets and scaling 1-to-10 products. You will mentor and grow a team of researchers while staying close to craft through selective research, pioneering methodologies for AI technologies.

You will balance foundational research with pragmatic, AI-forward guidance, guiding cross-functional teams to move concept work toward user adoption and strategic product decisions at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience in an applied research setting, or similar.
• 5 years of people management experience leading UX researchers.
• Experience conducting user experience research for AI, machine learning, emerging technologies, 0-to-1 incubations, or scaling products.

Responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of UX researchers across Labs products while contributing selective research as a player-coach.
• Define and lead research strategy, methodologies, and priorities across both ambiguous 0-to-1 incubations and scaling 1-to-10 public products.
• Influence senior and executive stakeholders across Product Management, Engineering, and UX to drive research-backed product decisions.
• Oversee research operations, resource allocation, vendor and extended workforce partnerships, and research tooling across the team.
• Synthesize qualitative and quantitative user insights to guide product roadmaps and determine whether concepts advance, scale, pivot, or sunset.
