Job summary

The City of Mesquite is seeking a supervisor to lead, oversee and participate in the work of an assigned crew responsible for providing maintenance services for water distribution and wastewater collection systems. The role requires planning, directing and participating in maintenance and repairs, with on-call responsibilities and potential overtime.

Essential duties include supervising equipment operation, training staff, inspecting mains, and coordinating with outside contractors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• One year of experience in water distribution or wastewater collection systems, including six months backhoe experience.
• Or completed 40 hours of TCEQ approved class work towards a state certification and six months experience in water distribution or wastewater collection systems, including six months of backhoe experience.
• Possession of a valid driver's license; Class A Texas driver's license or obtain Class A CDL within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plan, train and review the work of an assigned crew responsible for water distribution and wastewater collection systems maintenance.
• Plan, direct and participate in the maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
• Supervise use of and operate equipment including trucks, jet trucks, backhoes, and other tools; perform routine vehicle maintenance.
