Job summary

CBNA is seeking a Construction Safety Officer to ensure health, safety, and regulatory compliance on a major underground project in the Washington, DC region. The role requires daily on-site presence, independent safety enforcement, and coordination of training and inspections with Oracle Primavera Unifier.

Ideal candidates will have CHST certification (or within 90 days), strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, and experience in tunneling/underground work, with bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Qualifications

• CHST certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and project safety requirements
• Be certified OSHA Outreach Trainers capable of providing safety training
• Demonstrated experience in heavy civil construction
• Experience on tunneling/underground projects
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Oracle Primavera Unifier
• Tunnel Safety Officers must have 3+ years tunnel construction experience
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
• Experience leading incident investigations and safety management systems

Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous on-site safety presence during all active shifts
• Enforce compliance with federal, state, local, owner and project safety rules
• Act as independent safety representative for the project
• Conduct daily safety inspections of equipment and work plans
• Prepare daily inspection reports in Oracle Primavera Unifier
• Lead weekly safety inspections and toolbox talks
• Maintain training records and upload to Primavera Unifier
• Coordinate refresher and follow-up safety trainings
• Post all required safety notices (OSHA regs, emergency contacts, medical info)
• Participate in accident investigations and root-cause analysis
• Assist management with proactive safety initiatives
