Job summary

Avis Budget Group in Frederick, MD is seeking an experienced automotive/truck repair technician to diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and HVAC on newer cargo vans and box trucks. The role requires a valid driver's license and on-site work with occasional testing drives.

You will mentor junior technicians and ensure vehicle uptime while adhering to safety and quality standards. The position offers steady hourly pay and benefits, with on-site work only.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License (Class A, B, or C).
• Minimum of 3 years of professional automotive or truck repair experience.
• Current ASE certifications (minimum of 3), with ability to obtain 2 additional ASE certifications within the first year.
• Strong knowledge across ASE areas including Engine Repair, Drivetrain/Axles, Suspension/Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Heating/Air Conditioning, Engine Performance, and Light Vehicle/Diesel.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and near a mechanical shop with moderate noise levels.
• Must have a complete set of tools required for automotive and truck repair and maintenance.
• Basic computer skills, including typing and data entry.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, continuously stand, bend, reach, walk, sit and kneel frequently, enter, exit and drive vehicles.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be able to obtain DOT medical clearance.
• This position requires regular, on-site presence and cannot be performed remotely.
• Previous Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience is preferred and considered a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard and complex mechanical repairs, including warranty work on a fleet of newer cargo vans and box trucks with minimal supervision.
• Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, exhaust systems, brakes, electrical systems, air conditioning, and onboard computer systems.
• Act as a technical expert and mentor to other technicians; may drive Budget Trucks for testing or transport.
