Job summary

STV is seeking a Transportation Project Engineer to lead civil design tasks for roadway, utility, and site improvement projects in the Midwest. The role emphasizes teamwork, client coordination, and producing plans, reports, and calculations to meet project goals.

You will guide technical staff, support templates development, and engage with clients on diverse transportation subjects, including geometrics, drainage, and traffic studies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
• Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) License or ability to obtain within one year; PE licenses in other states is a plus.
• Minimum of five years of experience with civil design.
• Experience with IDOT, Illinois Tollway, City of Chicago, utility agencies, and/or municipalities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microstation, GeoPak, ProjectWise, and OpenRoads.
• Good oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical tasks for Phase 1 and Phase 2 transportation projects.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to technical engineering staff across the team.
• Execute technical tasks including developing reports, plans, specifications, supporting calculations, and client forms.
• Meet with clients and stakeholders and perform site visits as necessary.
• Develop guidance on producing reports, calculations, memos, and forms related to transportation subjects.
• Coordinate with outside consultants regarding project tasks, schedule, progress and reviews.
• Use CAD software (Microstation, GeoPak, OpenRoads) to produce plans and exhibits.
• Lead development of design templates to improve plan production quality.
• Assist Project Managers to plan resources and coordinate workshare.
• Attend industry workshops and trainings.
