Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) in Shelton, Connecticut, seeks an experienced Chief Construction Inspector to lead the CEI team on transportation projects and serve as the primary field representative among contractors, clients, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of construction inspection experience on transportation infrastructure projects.
• Credential required: PE, NICET IV, or CCM.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, specifications, and contract administration.
• Experience reviewing contractor schedules, pay estimates, RFIs, and change orders.
• Read, write, and understand plans in English.

Responsibilities

• Lead construction inspection activities on roadway, bridge, and transportation infrastructure projects.
• Manage and supervise inspection staff, technicians, and subcontractors.
• Serve as primary liaison between GPI, contractors, and Connecticut DOT representatives.
• Ensure work complies with plans, specs, standards, and contract requirements.
• Review and approve daily inspection reports, material certifications, and project documentation.
• Mentor junior inspectors and support staff.
