NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP seeks a Lead Transmission Planning Engineer to join Avangrid's team in New York. You will lead and perform advanced power system studies to identify investments that modernize the grid and support the ongoing clean energy transition.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 7 years of experience with transmission and distribution planning or operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required.
Minimum 7 years of industry experience in transmission planning or operation.
Advanced degree or professional certifications given extra consideration.
Experience with regulatory/regional/national processes and compliance.

Responsibilities

Perform and lead power system studies (steady-state, stability, short-circuit, PV/QC) using industry tools such as PSS/E, ASPEN, and TARA.
Communicate technical results clearly to management and influence decisions.
Act as a witness on regulatory and technical issues to advance objectives and represent Avangrid in forums.
Lead scoping, performance, and QA of studies by a team of engineers.
Analyze complex transmission systems and document results and recommendations.
Mentor team and drive process improvements; share best practices.
