Job summary

Avangrid is seeking a skilled Lead Transmission Planning Engineer to guide high‑level power system studies and drive investments that modernize the electric grid. You will model, simulate, and analyze transmission needs to support the energy transition.

Responsibilities include leading reliability/economic studies, communicating results, mentoring team members, and collaborating with internal teams and industry peers. Strong knowledge of planning standards and software is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Advanced degree and/or professional certifications are a plus.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in transmission planning or operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead reliability and economic studies (voltage, thermal, PV, transfer limits, short circuit, stability).
• Analyze complex transmission systems across voltages.
• Document results and prepare reports and presentations.
