Job summary

The City of Alexandria is seeking a Supervisor of Transit Maintenance to plan, coordinate, and supervise the maintenance and repair of the City’s transit buses. You will lead a team of mechanics, oversee safety procedures, and ensure timely repairs.

The role requires five years of supervisory automotive experience, a high school diploma or GED with automotive tech training, and a valid Class B CDL with air brakes.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with vocational/technical automotive training.
• Five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in automotive and equipment repair.
• Valid Class B commercial driver’s license; air brakes required on appointment; passenger endorsement optional.

Responsibilities

• Supervise mechanics and auto service workers in transit fleet maintenance; plan, train, assign work, and ensure quality repairs.
• Maintain inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies; order materials and manage shop safety.
• Prepare paperwork and reports required by FTA, LDEQ, City policies and audits; process time sheets and evaluations.
• Install and service electronic security systems and bus display/talk systems; conduct state inspections.
• Conduct State of Louisiana motor vehicle inspections.
