Polk County is seeking a Traffic Studies Engineer, PE in Winter Haven, FL to lead the implementation and refinement of traffic signal timing plans that enhance safety and efficiency across county systems. This exempt, full-time role requires collaboration with the Traffic Network Analyst and public engagement to address concerns and improve flow.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college.
• Minimum five years of civil engineering experience, including three in traffic engineering.
• Must be a registered Professional Engineer and able to obtain Florida PE within six months.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine signal timing plans to minimize delays.
• Modify and upgrade traffic signal controller databases with system software.
• Use traffic modeling tools such as Synchro for optimization.
• Prepare reports documenting roadway conditions and recommendations.
• Lead street lighting program for the county.
