Polk County in Winter Haven, FL is seeking a Traffic Studies Engineer, PE to lead the implementation and refinement of traffic signal timing plans that enhance safety and efficiency for signals managed by the Roads and Drainage Division. The role reports to the Traffic Engineering Program and requires PE licensure with Florida registration within six months.

Responsibilities include developing timing plans, data collection and analysis, and coordination with public stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited four-year college with Civil Engineering major; minimum five years civil engineering experience including three years in traffic engineering.
• Must be a registered Professional Engineer and able to obtain Florida PE within six months from employment date.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be able to secure a Florida driver's license.
• Comparable training and experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine signal timing plans for intersections and coordinated systems to reduce delays and improve efficiency.
• Assist with fielding customer service requests related to traffic signals and safety.
• Prepare reports documenting roadway conditions and engineering recommendations for improvements.
