Hardin Optical Company seeks an accomplished Thin Film Coating Engineer with extensive hands-on experience in PVD, e-beam evaporation, IAD, DLC, and infrared coatings. The role leads coating design, process development, and vacuum-deposition operations, while mentoring Thin Films Technicians.

You will guide production through spectral performance improvements, process controls, and cross‑functional collaboration with Sales and Engineering on RFQs and customer specs.

Qualifikationen

• 7+ years in optical thin-film coating engineering or related field.
• Hands-on experience with electron-beam evaporation and PVD systems.
• Knowledge of ion-assisted deposition and its impact on durability.
• Experience in IR optical coatings (SWIR/MWIR/LWIR).
• Proven ability to move designs from development to production.
• Experience interpreting spectrophotometer/FTIR results.
• ISO/controlled manufacturing environment experience is a plus.
• Ability to diagnose defects and process instabilities.

Aufgaben

• Provide technical leadership for e-beam evaporation, IAD, DLC, and PVD processes.
• Design, optimize, and troubleshoot optical coatings across UV to LWIR ranges.
• Develop and refine AR, BBAR, V‑coat, beam-splitter, and DLC coating processes.
• Translate designs into stable, production-ready processes with controls.
• Lead investigations into spectral deviations, defects, and environmental tests.
• Mentor and develop Thin Films Technicians and supervise cross‑functional tasks.
• Plan production schedules and allocate resources to meet quality and delivery.
• Maintain and improve coating recipes, work instructions, and process specs.
• Review changes to protect quality, repeatability, and traceability.
• Collaborate with Sales/Engineering on RFQs and customer drawings.
• Support MIL‑SPEC testing and QMS adherence.
