Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. in Irvine, CA is seeking a Senior Thin Film Engineer to partner with Thin Film Engineering to develop, support, execute and maintain coating designs and processes.

You will optimize optical thin film deposition for ion beam sputtering, ion assist and electron beam coating, collaborating with design engineers and technicians to troubleshoot and characterize chambers, reducing downtime. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Materials Science, Physics or Engineering and 3–5 years

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Materials Science, Physics or Engineering.
• 3–5 years in a thin film manufacturing environment.
• Correlating thin film performance with deposition chamber hardware and processes.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Develop, design and optimize optical thin film deposition processes for ion beam sputtering, ion assist and electron beam coating.
• Collaborate with design engineers and technicians to resolve technical issues and troubleshoot coating processes.
• Characterize equipment and processes; work with team to reduce downtime and improve quality and cost.
• Support documentation, training and formalizing work instructions for coating processes.
