Job summary

Intergalactic, now part of Unison, a GE Aerospace Company, seeks a Lead Engineer 1 - Thermal Dynamics to provide analytical modeling to the systems engineering team, lead trade studies, and develop a system architecture meeting customer requirements.

You will lead thermal modeling efforts, assess performance requirements, and correlate test data with models across a multidisciplinary team on complex aerospace programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with 8–10 years of relevant experience; advanced degrees considered to satisfy part of the experience requirement.
• Deep knowledge of aerospace technical disciplines: requirements management, verification/validation, mechanical design, materials, modeling and documentation, structural analysis, electrical systems, controls, embedded controls, testing and qualification.
• Expertise in thermal fluid sciences: fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer; experience with VCS/LCS/ACS systems.
• Modeling experience for steady state and dynamic systems; knowledge of solvers and optimization techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist Systems Engineer in developing system architecture and technical approach, including thermal and controls analysis and test analysis for model correlation.
• Identify and manage technical risks related to thermal performance.
• Serve as technical lead for modeling and analysis; coordinate activities across engineering groups.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineer and Program Manager to ensure successful modeling, analysis, and testing development.
• Manage thermal and performance requirements and assist in requirements traceability and derivation.
• Decompose high-level requirements into lower-level specifications for internal groups and suppliers.
• Research investments or changes to improve discipline health and product offerings.
• Communicate with customers and suppliers during design development.
• Review and approve documentation for transition from prototype to production.
• Provide engineering support to troubleshoot non-performing products.
