Job summary

Kokosing, Inc. seeks a Lead Construction Design Engineer to develop temporary civil and structural designs for bridge and infrastructure projects.

This role can be based in our Richmond, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD offices and leads a team of design engineers and CAD modelers to deliver safe, compliant solutions. The ideal candidate holds a BS in Civil/Structural Engineering, a VA/MD PE license, and 10+ years of design experience on bridge/highway projects, with proficiency in AutoCAD, RISA-3D,

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Structural, or related Engineering field.
• Current Professional Engineer license in Virginia and/or Maryland with ability to obtain other states as necessary.
• Minimum 10 years of design experience engineering temporary construction works (shoring, erection, demolition etc.) for bridge/highway projects.
• Knowledge of safety, constructability, and code compliance in temporary works.

Responsibilities

• Lead design engineers and CAD modelers; provide direction and mentorship.
• Plan, design, and review temporary construction designs for safety and code compliance.
• Coordinate with clients, owners, vendors, and consultants to develop safe, economical solutions.
• Work with construction operations teams to optimize means and methods and develop efficient designs.
• Manage project schedules and submittals; oversee third-party reviews.
• Review documents with estimating staff to develop pre-bid means, methods, and construction costs.
• Represent the company in client and project management meetings.
