Overview:
The Lead Building Automation Technician assists in the installation of building automation controls on various commercial job sites. This position is responsible for complying with Encore Standards for safety and customer service.
Compensation Range for this Role: $30.00 - $35.00
General Responsibilities:
- Work independently or as part of a team
- Understand and follow safety guidelines and ensure others are following the appropriate protocols
- Understand scopes of work and can effectively complete the tasks associated
- Understand common industry tools including applicable testing equipment and how to use them
- Efficiently lead crews on different-sized projects and/or more than one
- Communicate, educate, and delegate effectively
Responsibilities for BAS:
- Assist in installation of building automation systems
- Pulling wire, working with PLCs, panel enclosures, raceways, and other relevant tasks
- Perform commercial HVAC troubleshooting
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, pumps, towers, chillers, metering systems, steam, electric, CO, air flows, VAV systems, etc.
- Proficient with test meters and wiring diagrams
- Install controllers, communication wiring, conduit, and field devices in a workmanlike manner
- Attend project-specific progress meetings as needed and communicate pertinent information to the project manager
- Perform preventative maintenance and diagnostics on automation systems and components according to service agreements
- Complete and submit written service orders and reports covering all aspects of each activity

Physical Requirements:
A physical assessment is required and must be passed before work can commence. These include:
- Driving
- Sitting
- Climbing
- Lifting (up to 50 lbs from floor to chest, floor to waist; up to 30 lbs overhead)
- Carrying (up to 50 lbs)
- Standing
- Stooping
- Vision acuity (near, far, and color vision)
- Walking
- Kneeling
- Final electrical device installation (trimming)
- Pushing and pulling (up to 100 lbs)
Requirements:
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, with two years of experience in a technology construction-related field preferred. Formal education in electronics or related fields is also preferred.
