DAS Aviation is seeking a proactive Evaluation & Teardown Lead to supervise teardown, receiving inspection, and evaluation activities on aviation components. You will coordinate workflows, ensure on-time delivery, and mentor technicians in disassembly, inspection methods, and data documentation.

The role requires leadership, familiarity with FAA regulations, and hands-on experience with composite and metal bond parts.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

The Evaluation & Teardown Lead is responsible for coordinating and supporting teardown, receiving inspection, inspection, and evaluation activities to achieve optimal costs, high quality, and strict schedule compliance. This hands‑on role provides technical leadership to safely disassemble and evaluate aviation articles, supports accurate work order quoting, develops technician capability, and promotes continuous improvement. The Lead will ensure assigned activities comply with organizational goals, customer engineering requirements, manufacturer specifications, and applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

• Lead and coordinate teardown, disassembly, receiving inspection, inspection, and evaluation activities within the assigned area.
• Coordinate work flow to ensure compliance with committed schedules, engineering requirements, and profit goals.
• Perform receiving inspection duties, including verification of documentation, traceability, part condition, identification, and work order requirements in accordance with approved procedures.
• Train and mentor technicians on disassembly, tool usage, inspection methods, documentation requirements, and proper evaluation practices.
• Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs (IPC), and other technical data.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve Corridor Canned Work Order Quotes to support consistent evaluation, accurate quoting, and efficient work order processing.
• Support clear, timely communication regarding component condition, evaluation findings, quote requirements, and customer needs.
• Ensure all teardown, cleaning, receiving inspection, and evaluation processes comply with FAA rules and regulations.
• Provide technical guidance for processes related to composite and metal bond parts for aircraft component manufacturing, repair, and evaluation.
• Maintain a strong working knowledge of Corridor, computer systems, and tracking databases to manage work orders, quotes, and production data.
• Promote and support the DAS productive and professional culture through teamwork, accountability, communication, leadership by example, and continuous improvement. Perform additional leadership and operational duties as assigned by management.

Requirements/Qualifications

Your Education:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license or Repairman license is preferred but not required.

Your Experience:

• Four or more years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in aviation maintenance or component teardown.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a production or repair station setting, with the ability to train, mentor, and support technicians.
• Scheduling experience within a manufacturing or repair environment, with aerospace industry experience highly preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of FAA rules, regulations, and aircraft component compliance standards.
• Hands‑on familiarity with composite and metal bond parts associated with aircraft component repair, teardown, or manufacturing.
• High proficiency in computer applications, specifically MS Word, Excel, and Access.

Other Particulars

Physical Requirements:

• Lift at least 50lbs.
• Ability to safely navigate and stand/walk on an active aviation shop floor for extended periods.
• Visual acuity and coordination required for reading technical blueprints and auditing inspected components.
• Ability to perform routine physical motions required in a lead capacity on a manufacturing floor.

Mental Requirements:

• Strong leadership, training, mentoring, communication, and team-building capabilities.
• Advanced ability to interpret technical data, maintenance documentation, and complex engineering requirements.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills to resolve operational inefficiencies, component backlogs, and customer complaints.
• High attention to detail regarding quality control, component defect documentation, and regulatory compliance.

Working Conditions: The majority of work will be conducted in an aviation teardown, repair, and component evaluation shop floor environment.
