Job summary

ART INC is a Peoria-based arts education nonprofit seeking a Teaching Artist Lead to guide ASALA program classes for 1st–12th graders. You’ll develop weekly lesson plans, ensure interactive, standards-aligned activities, and foster a positive learning environment.

The role is part-time, Monday–Saturday, 2:30–6:00 pm, with background checks required and a flexible schedule. Ideal candidates bring discipline-specific art experience and strong classroom management.

Qualifications

• The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong background with experience in their discipline.
• The candidate for this position must present evidence of a robust and creative job history that is relevant to visual/performing arts education.
• Must be flexible and adaptable to changes in the Program process and its progression.

Responsibilities

• Teach professional and educational classes leveled for beginner to advanced students.
• Utilize weekly lesson plans for 1st–12th graders that follow state standards and establish scope and sequence timelines.
• Create interactive, grade-appropriate lesson plans that showcase students’ artistry.
• Maintain a 20-30 hour work week (Mon–Sat) 10:00–6:00 p.m., with classroom management and background checks.
• Support the development and execution of weekly lesson plans, curriculum, and project-based learning.
