Job summary

Bright Beginnings, Inc. seeks a Lead Teacher/Site Supervisor in Washington, DC to guide Head Start preschool programming. You will supervise staff and volunteers, plan weekly lessons, and ensure curriculum fidelity and regulatory compliance.

You will implement High Scope with fidelity, coordinate with the instructional team, and monitor child progress through portfolios and COR-based assessments. This is a full-time, on-site position requiring commitment to quality early education.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education and 15 ECED credits.
• At least two years of teaching experience in early childhood.
• Strong knowledge of Head Start standards and NAEYC guidelines.
• Ability to relate positively to children, families, and staff.
• Proficiency with Windows-based software and basic office tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead team meetings and develop weekly lesson plans addressing individual goals.
• Provide day-to-day supervision and support to staff, substitutes, and volunteers.
• Review curriculum plans with instructional leaders to improve classroom practice.
• Implement Head Start standards, DC regulations, and NAEYC guidelines in daily operations.
• Use High Scope curriculum with fidelity per program policies.
• Collaborate with staff to plan daily activities based on child development principles.
• Maintain child portfolios and document progress for assessments.
• Conduct parent conferences, home visits, and monthly meetings.
• Ensure health, safety, and confidentiality in the classroom and facility.
