Job summary

Portland Public Schools Youth Development is seeking Lead Teachers for before- and after-school programs. You will supervise staff, create a safe, engaging curriculum, and build strong relationships with families and the school community.

Positions may be full-time or part-time with morning and afternoon shifts. The role requires availability Monday through Friday and may involve travel to YMCA sites; competitive benefits and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Pass a YMCA Background Check.
• At least 240 hours of qualifying experience with school age children, or an Associate degree, or Step 6 on the Oregon Registry.
• Meet all Program Leader standards per the state Child Care Division.
• Current enrollment in the Oregon State Childcare Registry or enroll prior to employment.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, or obtain within 30 days.
• Current Food Handlers certification, or obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Lead the program as onsite supervisor, overseeing teachers, aides and volunteers.
• Maintain a safe, developmentally appropriate classroom and engaging curriculum.
• Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and the school community.
• Work primarily at YMCA Before and After School programs in Portland; may travel to other sites.
• Attend company events outside regular schedule as notified.
