Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer Lead (Level 3/4) to Chandler, AZ, on-site. You will guide safety requirements for launch vehicle systems, coordinate with customers and internal teams, and ensure safety compliance across the lifecycle.

The role requires STEM degrees with several years of system safety/engineering experience, and the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret clearance. This is a challenging position with significant impact on mission safety and success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5+ years of related engineering experience for Level 3 or 8+ years for Level 4.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain/maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance.
• Experience in launch vehicle or similar systems design, testing, or operations.
• Knowledge of system safety within systems engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of system safety engineers to define and verify safety requirements.
• Apply systems engineering to define safety requirements for launch vehicle and ground support.
• Understand mission scope including launch vehicle, payload, and safety interfaces.
• Explain safety criteria to customers and stakeholders.
• Develop safety documents to support customer/test range requirements.
• Participate in accident investigations and corrective actions.
