Job summary

Akina Inc. is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer in Annapolis Junction, MD to manage stability, security, and scalability of data workflows and a web UI. You will lead two admins, partner with 25+ software engineers, and shape system architecture across AWS, bare metal, and Kubernetes.

The role emphasizes automation with Ansible, Terraform, and Podman, as well as monitoring, security, and SSP accreditations. A TS/SCI polygraph is required.

Qualifications

• Twelve (12) years of experience as a SE in programs of similar scope and complexity.
• Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, CS, Information Systems, or related discipline.
• Experience leading SE efforts and teams, with proven project guidance.
• Active TS/SCI polygraph clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and direct two system administrators daily.
• Collaborate with a 25+ member software team for robust design.
• Provide guidance for overall system design and setup with software teams.
• Maintain platforms and health of all servers (EC2, bare metal, etc.).
• Oversee security and SSP accreditations; ensure uptime and performance.
• Drive observability with automation, monitoring, backups, and DR strategies.
• Keep system documentation current and perform post-mortems for improvement.
