Job summary

Vibrint in Reston, VA seeks a senior Systems Engineer to lead mission-critical system development for federal programs. The role demands a decade of SE experience, strong signal processing, and a proven ability to translate mission needs into rigorous requirements and baselines.

You will guide end-to-end lifecycle, perform V&V, manage risks, and lead technical reviews while coordinating hardware, software, and interfaces to deliver reliable, testable solutions.

Qualifications

  • Ten years of Systems Engineering experience in a lead or technical leadership role.
  • Strong signal processing background supporting mission-focused programs for federal government/IC.
  • Translate mission needs into measurable system requirements, performance criteria, interfaces and baselines.
  • Lead disciplined SE processes across the full system lifecycle including requirements analysis, architecture, interface definition, verification and validation, transition, and sustainment.
  • Maintain end-to-end requirements traceability and ensure completeness, measurability, and testability.
  • Plan and execute Verification and Validation activities with test strategies and traceability to requirements.
  • Define Measures of Performance and Measures of Effectiveness to evaluate system/algorithm performance.
  • Analyze test data to benchmark capabilities and provide data-driven engineering recommendations.
  • Perform technical trade studies and risk-based analyses across system approaches.
  • Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, interfaces, tradeoffs, and system-level issues.
  • Coordinate hardware, software, algorithms, data, and interfaces for end-to-end integration.
  • Lead technical reviews and engineering discussions, including requirements and design reviews.
  • Manage baselines, configuration changes, and engineering changes to control impacts on requirements and testing.

Required Skills:
  • Ten years of Systems Engineering experience, including experience serving in a Lead Systems Engineer or similar technical leadership role.
  • Demonstrate a strong signal processing background supporting mission-focused programs within the federal government and/or Intelligence Community (IC).
  • Translate mission and operational needs into measurable and testable system requirements, performance criteria, interface definitions, and technical baselines.
  • Lead and apply disciplined Systems Engineering processes across the full system lifecycle, including requirements analysis and allocation, system architecture and design, interface definition, implementation, integration, verification and validation, transition, and sustainment.
  • Maintain end-to-end requirements traceability and ensure requirements are complete, measurable, testable, and appropriately allocated across system components.
  • Plan and execute Verification and Validation (V&V) activities, including test strategies, evaluation methodologies, success criteria, and traceability to system and mission requirements.
  • Define and apply Measures of Performance (MOPs), Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs), and other quantitative criteria to evaluate system and algorithm performance.
  • Analyze test and performance data to benchmark system capabilities, identify performance gaps, assess technical advantages, and provide data-driven engineering recommendations.
  • Perform technical trade studies and alternatives analyses to evaluate system approaches based on performance, mission effectiveness, technical risk, cost, and schedule considerations.
  • Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, interfaces, tradeoffs, and system-level issues throughout system development, integration, and test.
  • Coordinate hardware, software, algorithms, data, and external interfaces to support successful system integration and end-to-end mission performance.
  • Lead technical reviews and engineering discussions, including requirements reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, and other key program milestones.
  • Manage technical baselines, configuration changes, and engineering changes to ensure impacts on requirements, interfaces, performance, and testing are understood and controlled.
Desired Skills:
  • Demonstrate strong mathematical and analytical skills with the ability to understand, evaluate, and work effectively with signal processing algorithms and quantitative performance data.
  • Possess professional, research, or academic experience with quantum computing, quantum information science, quantum sensing, or related technologies.
  • Demonstrate experience developing and maintaining technical documentation such as system specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), architecture products, requirements documentation, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Maintain strong organizational skills while managing multiple technical priorities, dependencies, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and organizational boundaries.
  • Demonstrate initiative, attention to detail, and accountability in leading complex technical efforts through successful completion.
  • Anticipate technical risks and integration challenges, solve problems proactively, and identify opportunities to improve engineering processes and system performance.
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Possess relevant professional certifications in Systems Engineering, MBSE, Agile, or related technical disciplines, such as INCOSE ASEP/CSEP, as preferred.
