Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join the Safety, Quality and Mission Assurance organization. You will work with systems engineering teams to verify safety and reliability requirements for space vehicles and in-space systems.

You will lead safety analyses, identify hazards, and develop mitigation plans while collaborating with responsible engineers, program management, and customers to advance human spaceflight and mission success. Relocation and travel up to 20% are possible.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in aerospace or systems engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of System Safety or Systems Engineering experience including requirements definition and verification.
• Experience with safety analyses on safety-critical systems (FTA, PHA, FHA, FMECA).
• Ability to lead and coordinate safety analysis products across stakeholders.
• Strong safety and mission assurance fundamentals.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform and lead engineering activities including FTA, PHA, FHA, Hazard Reports, FMECA, reliability analysis, and mitigation plans.
• Develop plans and coordinate system/subsystem safety analyses and provide guidance on safety artifacts.
• Ensure traceability between system functions, requirements, and safety artifacts.
• Support verification and validation of safety and reliability requirements.
• Mentor engineers across the program and company.
• Collaborate across systems to share best practices.
