Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a System Safety Engineer III to join the Safety, Quality and Mission Assurance organization in the Greater Seattle Area. You will lead safety analyses across space vehicles and in-space systems, coordinating with systems engineers to ensure safety and reliability requirements are met.

You will mentor peers, drive traceability of safety artifacts, and support verification and validation efforts to minimize risk and enable mission success.

Qualifications

• BS in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of System Safety or Systems Engineering experience performing requirements definition, traceability, functional decomposition, integration, verification, and validation.
• Experience with safety analyses on safety-critical systems: FTA, PHA, FHA, Hazard Reports, FMECA, reliability analysis, and mitigation plans.
• Ability to coordinate safety analysis products across stakeholders and engineers to produce safety and reliability outputs.
• Strong safety and mission assurance fundamentals with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform safety analyses including FTA, PHA, FHA, Hazard Reports, and FMECA.
• Develop and coordinate system and subsystem safety analyses with review and guidance.
• Ensure traceability between functions, requirements, and safety artifacts.
• Support verification and validation of safety and reliability requirements.
• Mentor engineers and share best practices across programs.
