Job summary

City of Ann Arbor is seeking a Swim Instructor III to teach swimming and water safety to children and adults, while supervising class activities and occasionally leading programs across multiple pools. You will support registration, assess student skills, and train other instructors.

The role requires at least two years of instructional experience, one year in program administration, and current lifesaving certifications (Lifeguard, CPR/First Aid, WSI).

Qualifications

• Knowledge of instructional methods for teaching swimming and water safety to groups and individuals.
• At least two years of swim instruction experience and one year of swim program administration.
• Must obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of employment from approved organizations.
• Must possess current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification by start of employment.
• Current Water Safety Instructor certification.

Responsibilities

• Instructs swimming and water safety skills for children and adults according to City of Ann Arbor standards.
• Responsible for supervision of structured class activities for a small group of students or for individual private lessons.
• Lead instructor for a particular pool and assist with organization and implementation of instructional swim programs at multiple pools, including program registration, student skill assessment, training and supervision of other swim instructors, and program evaluation.
