Job summary

Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a Surveys Engineer in Cheyenne, WY to lead advanced surveying efforts using GPS/RTK, LiDAR, drones, and total stations. You will oversee all preliminary surveys, data collection, and data management to support transportation design and standards.

This role requires a Wyoming PE within one year of hire, a 2–4 year engineering background, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related field.
• PE license required at time of hire; Wyoming PE within one year.

Responsibilities

• Set priorities for Surveys' Group to establish project control and collect preliminary survey data.
• Review project control coordinates and field surveys for completeness and accuracy.
• Update Survey Database and PCS when activities are completed.
• Lead survey meetings and prepare reports for distribution.
• Prepare LOCO maps and assist in permits to survey.
• Oversee annual budget for equipment purchases and maintenance.
• Hire and train new personnel and conduct performance appraisals.
