Job summary

Thalle Construction Co., Inc. in Austin, Texas, is seeking a Survey Party Chief to support the operations team and manage field surveying on heavy civil projects.

The role requires hands-on experience with land surveying, project controls, and stakeout using a total station, GPS, and related software. Candidates should have 2–3 years of field surveying experience, proficiency with AutoCAD, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience with land surveying.
• Field work experience a must.
• Experience must show current proficiency operating a robotic tool station, GPS, and level.
• AutoCAD experience required.
• Knowledge of geological description principles and methods.
• Knowledge of applicable laws, legal codes, and government regulation.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Valid Driver’s License required, and candidate must pass be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Report background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide surveying services, which include construction survey and layout on bridges, highways, foundations, and other related heavy civil projects.
• Assists with survey computations and data collection including construction layout calculations, grade sheet computation, topographical/volume analysis, and project data conversion/transformation.
• Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and as-built surveys.
• Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.
• Conducting plan research and review.
• Perform fieldwork associated with land surveying.
• Conduct business with 100% integrity and professionalism.
