Job summary

Horrocks in Utah seeks a Survey Crew Chief to lead field survey crews on transportation, municipal, and land development projects, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.

This role requires extensive experience with conventional survey gear and GPS, Topographic and boundary surveys and coordination with clients and the office. Proficiency with Trimble equipment and Civil 3D is highly valued.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of progressively responsible surveying experience, including leading field survey crews.
• 5+ years as Survey Crew Chief or equivalent leadership role with planning daily field operations.
• Proven ability to lead and develop survey crews and coordinate with clients and offices.
• Willing to work primarily in the field with some office tasks.
• Experience in topographic, ALTA/NSPS, boundary surveys and data management.
• Fluency with Trimble equipment; lidar experience a plus.
• Knowledge of Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Office; OPUS and point cloud exposure a plus.
• Experience with Topo Surveys linework codes and local safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Competent in using conventional survey equipment and GPS for data collection and construction control.
• Well-versed in boundary retracement, design support, topographic mapping, and Right of Way mapping.
• Maintain clear, informative field notes.
• Complete daily topographic, boundary and control surveys for design and construction.
• Communicate with client on-site representatives to ensure satisfaction and proper office support.
• Identify and report unique construction difficulties to the office support team.
• Analyze survey maps, locate monumentation, and support retracement of property lines.
• Ensure field information is accurately transferred to the office support team.
• Comfortable performing field and office tasks.
