Job summary

Horrocks is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief to lead field survey crews on large, multi-discipline projects. The role involves planning daily operations, coordinating with clients and project managers, and ensuring accurate field notes and timely data transfer to the office.

Candidates should have 8–10+ years in surveying with leadership experience, strong Trimble and Civil 3D skills, and a readiness to work in the field with some office duties.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years in surveying with crew leadership experience.
• 5+ years as Survey Crew Chief or similar leadership role.
• Experience leading field crews on transportation, municipal, land development, and boundary surveys.
• Willingness to work primarily in the field with some office tasks.
• Experience in topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and boundary surveys; elevation certificates helpful.
• Fluent with Trimble equipment; lidar experience a plus.
• Knowledge of UDOT safety standards and local practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead field survey crews and plan daily field operations.
• Communicate with project managers and clients; ensure schedules and quality deliverables.
• Perform and supervise boundary retracement and topographic surveys.
• Maintain clear, informative field notes and transfer data to office.
• Identify potential construction challenges and report to the office team.
• Support both field and office tasks as needed.
