Job summary

State of Indiana Department of Health seeks a Surveillance Program Manager to lead a 7-person team in the Lead and Healthy Homes Division, ensuring lead testing, reporting, and case management for families of lead poisoned children. Travel 1–2 times per month; emphasis on multitasking and grant management.

The role requires strong program leadership, policy interpretation, and collaboration with state and local partners to achieve program objectives and compliance.

Qualifications

• Significant knowledge in program subject matter, gained through experience/education, preferably public health.
• Specialized knowledge of state/local partners and program planning.
• Ability to communicate complex public health concepts clearly.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple agencies and manage relationships.
• Ability to delegate, set direction, and mentor staff.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and interpret policies for a public health program.
• Develop plans, implement changes, and evaluate effectiveness.
• Produce complex statistical and narrative program reports.
• Maintain gestion information systems and identify improvement needs.
• Coordinate grant writing and manage related budgets.
• Serve as liaison with federal, state, and local agencies.
