Indiana Department of Health is seeking a Surveillance Program Manager to lead the Lead and Healthy Homes Division in Indianapolis. This role supervises 7 staff and drives public health policies, grant management, and cross‑agency coordination to protect children from lead exposure.

The position requires extensive experience in public health programs, strong communication of complex concepts, and the ability to develop staff while coordinating with federal, state, and local partners.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in a similar public health program role.
  • Considerable knowledge of public health theories, principles and practices.
  • Specialized knowledge of state and local partner organizations and functions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex public health concepts.
  • Supervisory experience with ability to delegate, provide feedback, and develop staff.
  • Ability to coordinate with federal, state, and local agency partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Lead and Healthy Homes Division and supervise a team of staff.
  • Develop and implement public health program policies and strategies.
  • Manage grants and coordinate with local and state agencies.
  • Oversee blood lead testing, reporting, and case management workflows.
  • Travel 1-2 times monthly across Indiana to support program activities.
  • Work primarily from IDOH's Indianapolis office.
