Zusammenfassung

UPMC is seeking an experienced Surgical Technician to support invasive and non-invasive procedures in a high-volume operating room. You will coordinate instrumentation, equipment, and supplies, pass instruments, maintain asepsis, and assist surgeons throughout complex cases across multiple specialties.

Responsibilities include supervising daily shifts, precepting students and new staff, and contributing to process improvements and cost containment.

Qualifikationen

• Completion of a formal surgical technician program.
• Current OR experience with multiple specialties is preferred.
• Certification in CST or TSC is required.

Aufgaben

• Assist surgeons by passing instruments and maintaining asepsis.
• Prepare sterile supplies and drapes; set up the OR.
• Coordinate day-to-day supervision of surgical technicians; lead shifts.
• Precept students and new employees; teach skills and theory.
• Ensure medications are labeled and handed to surgeon per policy.
• Support cost containment and identify process improvements.
• Repair, order, and maintain supplies and equipment under supervision.
• Maintain excellent communication with surgeons and team.
