Job summary

Allegheny Health Network in Monroeville, PA is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support patients before, during, and after surgical interventions. You will scrub in, prepare the operating room, and hand instruments to the surgeon while maintaining sterile technique.

The role requires a postsecondary certificate and CPR; certification as CST/TS-C may be required within 6 months. You will also orient new staff and maintain inventory, ensuring smooth OR operations and patient safety.

Qualifications

• One year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred: three years surgical scrub specialty experience.
• CPR certification is required; CST/TS-C certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Initiates changes to the physician preference list and ensures teams are aware of changes.
• Maintains inventory for the service area.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Orients new team members and directs the work of lower level surgical technicians.
• Assists in setting up the operating room with instruments and supplies.
• Scrubs in and hands physician instruments during surgery.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
