Job summary

Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking an experienced surgical technologist to support the operating room team before, during, and after procedures. You will prepare the suite, maintain aseptic technique, and assist with patient positioning and instrument counts.

This role requires strong knowledge of sterile processing, ability to adapt to surgeon preferences, and willingness to travel if needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of surgical technologist experience.
• Diploma or certificate from a college or accredited technical school.
• Preferred 1 year of travel experience.
• 5 years of surgical technologist experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up the surgical operating suite with appropriate instruments and supplies.
• Utilize proper aseptic techniques and practice standard precautions.
• Follow policy for medication and specimen handling.
• Assist with preparing, positioning and draping patients and participate in the surgical pause to assure correct patient and surgical site.
• Understand, anticipate and adapt to surgeon preference and patient care variables, and contribute to updating surgeon preference materials.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument count.
• Care for and utilize resources to promote cost effective and efficient environment for patients.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
