Job summary

Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage seeks an experienced Lead Surgical Technician to guide the operating room team, organize sterile technique, and ensure the highest level of patient safety during complex procedures.

You will mentor technologists, manage instrument counts, and collaborate with surgeons to support on-call and emergency cases, while upholding infection prevention standards and company values.

Qualifications

  • BLS or BCLS certification required.
  • Surgical Technologist CST or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of surgical technologist program or comparable experience.

Responsibilities

  • Scrub in and support surgeons through complex cardiac surgeries while maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Mentor and train surgical technologists, modeling best practices for the team.
  • Oversee counts, handle specimens, and ensure infection prevention standards are met.
  • Support on-call and emergency cases with effective communication and problem solving.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Lead Surgical Technologist, you’ll take on a vital leadership role in the OR, guiding your team and ensuring patients receive the safest, most advanced surgical care. Working alongside a highly experienced, collaborative surgical team, you’ll bring order, precision, and confidence to the operating room. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Leading surgical preparation by organizing suites, equipment, and instruments to ensure readiness for every procedure
  • Scrubbing in and supporting surgeons through complex cardiac surgeries, anticipating needs and maintaining a safe, sterile environment
  • Guiding and mentoring surgical technologists, serving as a role model while training new team members and reinforcing best practices
  • Overseeing quality and safety by managing counts, handling specimens, and ensuring compliance with infection prevention standards
  • Driving teamwork and efficiency through effective communication, rapid problem-solving, and support for on-call and emergency cases
What qualifications you will need:
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.
  • Surgical Technologist Certificate preferred (CST) or equivalent.
  • Completion of surgical technologist course or comparable experience.
