Job summary

Signature Dental Implants & Oral Surgery in Atlanta, GA is seeking a skilled Lead Surgical Assistant to join our fast-paced specialty practice. You will support the oral surgeon during procedures, prepare instruments, maintain sterile fields, and help ensure patient comfort and safety.

This role leads the clinical team, coordinates prep and post-procedure care, and upholds high standards of safety and documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Dental Assistant program preferred.
• Maintain CPR certification up to date.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a surgical assistant, preferably in an oral surgery or dental setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and sterilize all surgical instruments and equipment before, during, and after procedures to ensure a sterile environment
• Escort patients to the operatory in a timely, professional manner
• Help patients feel comfortable and informed before, during, and after their treatment, addressing any concerns they may have
• Assist the oral surgeon during procedures by passing instruments, suctioning, and providing necessary materials as needed
• Prepare patients for surgery, monitor vital signs, and assist in anesthesia administration to ensure patient safety
• Verify patient medical history prior to treatment and ensure all necessary changes are made in the records
• Confirm that the patient fully understands and is educated about the procedure being performed
• Accurately document patient information, surgical details, and updates into the patient’s electronic health record (EHR)
