Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in San Diego, CA is seeking a Prin. Supplier Technical Engineer to manage purchased parts from concept through lifecycle.

You will lead PPAP activities, coordinate with engineering and NPI teams, and drive supplier quality improvements to meet cost and performance goals. The role requires an engineering degree and experience with manufacturing processes, DOE, Lean principles, and quality management.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate engineering degree required.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and shop operations.
• Knowledge of engineering practices & process planning, DOE and Lean principles.
• Understanding of quality management principles is expected.

Responsibilities

• Lead PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and develop FAPITP (First Article Production Inspection Test Plan).
• Act as a technical liaison between engineering, NPI and supplier teams; drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Sourcing Specialists, Buyers and Supplier Development Engineers to improve cost, quality and throughput.
