Job summary

Verdex Construction is seeking a Lead Construction Superintendent to join our Operations team to ensure the successful delivery of multifamily projects. You will lead safety, quality control, and project scheduling on site, collaborating with the Project Manager and field teams.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in superintendent or equivalent roles on commercial builds, deep knowledge of budgets, regulations, and Procore/Microsoft Office, and excels in communication and leadership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Superintendent or equivalent in commercial construction
  • Must have multifamily project experience
  • Strong knowledge of construction budget practices and regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead and coordinate a field team and subcontractors

Responsibilities

  • Lead field and project team to successful project completion
  • Maintain client and project team relationships
  • Oversee project setup, site logistics, and scheduling
  • Review shop drawings and constructability
  • Coordinate inspections and agency approvals
  • Ensure safety and quality control on site
  • Monitor progress against plan and adjust work plans as needed

Description

Verdex Construction is looking for a Lead ConstructionSuperintendent to add to our Operations team to assist us in our mission of "Building Something Better."

Must have multifamily experience.

The Lead Superintendent’s primary responsibility is to manage, in collaboration with the ProjectManager, the successful completion of assigned projects. The Lead Superintendent is the lead for jobsite safety, quality control, and project schedule.

Essential Functions:
  • Manages the field and project team successfully and collaboratively.
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with clients, project team, consultants/architect/engineers, subcontractors, adjacent community, and governmental agencies.
  • Responsible for the project set-up, job site logistics, field coordination, and project schedule.
  • Review all project documents for constructability and content, including shop drawings.
  • Coordinates with building inspections, subcontractor inspections, and agencies.
  • Manages the delivery of commercial outcomes by ensuring subcontractors are clear about the performance expectations for their role and effectively addressing any performance issues in a timely manner.
  • Is accountable for raising any concerns relating to compliance implications for the team or project.
  • Delivers to quality expectations by understanding the deliverables, consistently test quality of work in progress to minimize rework through daily monitoring of resources including manpower, materials, and temporary works against project plan.
  • Develops project sequencing logic, identifies and manages associated temporary works.
  • Adheres to timelines and manages workflow according to demand. Can develop well-structured and realistic work plans with clear breakdown of tasks. Allocates own time and resources effectively.
  • Has a solid understanding of the skills and expertise of the broader team and harnesses the relevant professionals to maximize success.
  • Maintains a robust understanding of safety requirements for all aspects of the site, including pre-planning, monitoring of construction activities and site conditions, and taking corrective actions to non-compliant work. Driving the company’s initiatives on a daily basis with the trades/subcontractors.
  • Seeks out knowledge of specific construction trades and an awareness of their technical capabilities. Applies this awareness to problem solving.
  • Conduct and/or attend project staffmeetings.
  • Use project management and scheduling software effectively.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational symposia; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies, etc.
  • Satisfactory completion of appropriate corporate training as related to the position and/or department.
  • Contributes to overall achievement by accomplishing related tasks and demonstrating characteristics that exemplify team building and support.

Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Superintendent, or equivalent role, in the commercial construction industry
  • Prior experience in successfully building projects similar in size and complexity.
  • Knowledge of construction budget best practices.
  • In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal construction regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing and active listening.
  • Effective leadership abilities, self-motivated, goal setting and conflict management.
  • Organizational skills including time management, delegation, prioritization, and multitasking.
  • Must be a team player with enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work well done; self-starter dedicated to continual quality improvement.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and related construction software.
  • Working Knowledge of Procore and Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, PowerPoint Word, and Outlook)
Education:
  • Preferred four (4) year degree in Construction Management or related field, preferred.
  • OSHA 10 / OSHA 30 Safety Certification
