Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC in Phoenix, AZ seeks a SUE Field Technician I-III to designate and document utilities in urban and rural environments, leading field crews and coordinating with clients and utility owners to ensure high-quality project outcomes.

Responsibilities include operating geophysical equipment, RTK GPR, and total stations to collect precise horizontal and vertical data, compiling vault diagrams, and maintaining safety certifications.

Qualifications

• 1-5 years of SUE field experience preferred.
• Experience as a lead on SUE QL-A & QL-B field crews preferred.
• Previous role as a project-level field supervisor on SUE QL-A & QL-B projects preferred.
• Surveying experience preferred.
• Military experience is a plus.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet company MVR standards.

Responsibilities

• Designate utilities using geophysical equipment.
• Perform field surveys, document projects, and conduct vacuum excavation for utility exposure.
• Collect data and complete vault diagrams for 3D QL-B mapping.
• Lead 2D and 3D QL-B mapping projects with up to two crews.
• Oversee vacuum excavation and backfilling under complex conditions.
• Coordinate with clients, field crews, office staff, project managers, utility owners, and service providers.
• Operate geophysical and survey equipment for utility mapping.
• Use RTK GPR and total stations for accurate horizontal and vertical data collection.
• Collect vertical data for gravity flow systems using levels.
• Prepare Structures Data Reports and analyze utility plans and records.
• Maintain required safety certifications and ensure adherence to safety standards.
