Job summary

Ameren Illinois is seeking a senior electrical engineer to lead long-range subtransmission planning, oversee capital project initiation, and conduct interconnection studies. The role collaborates with Planning groups, GIS, and Regulatory teams to ensure reliable electric service and compliant planning.

The position requires a BS in Electrical Engineering, an MS preferred, PE preferred, and 5+ years of experience, with leadership capabilities and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, electrical focus, from an accredited college.
• Master’s in Electrical Engineering preferred; PE license preferred.
• Five+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.
• Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
• Leadership and cross-organizational collaboration abilities.
• First Line Supervisor Test with recommended status required after review.

Responsibilities

• Direct, review, and perform studies to develop long-range electric subtransmission system plans.
• Oversee initiation of capital projects with Design, Distribution, and Region Engineering teams.
• Direct generation interconnection studies, DER analysis, and subtransmission analyses.
• Collaborate with planning groups across Ameren IL and Ameren MO.
• Work with Planning groups, GIS and Digital to ensure GIS supports modeling tools.
• Provide operating personnel with technical support on system issues.
• Support initiatives to achieve target levels of electric service reliability and meet reporting requirements.
• Provide regulatory and legal tariff support and future grid planning efforts.
• Review updates of planning criteria.
• Pursue planning tool and process improvements and training of staff.
• Contribute to department goals.
• Participate in storm restoration support.
