Job summary

Ameren Illinois is hiring a Supervising Engineer in Subtransmission Planning to lead long-range subtransmission studies and coordinate capital projects across Transmission, Distribution Design and Region Engineering. The role emphasizes technical leadership and cross-team collaboration to ensure reliable service for customers in central and southern Illinois.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably Electrical with emphasis in power, from an accredited college or university required.
• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Professional Engineer License (PE) preferred.
• Five or more years of relevant engineering experience required.
• Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct, review, and perform studies to develop long-range electric subtransmission system plans.
• Oversee initiation of capital projects in collaboration with Design, Distribution Control and Region Engineering.
• Direct and review generation interconnection studies, DER analyses, load additions evaluations, and subtransmission analyses.
• Collaborate with planning groups in Ameren IL/MO on common practices and modeling tools.
• Work with GIS and Digital teams to ensure GIS information supports modeling tools.
• Provide technical support and recommendations on system issues including outages and voltage problems.
• Support regulatory and legal groups with tariff support and future grid planning.
• Lead planning tool improvements and team development.
