Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Overland Park, KS office is seeking a Substation Protection and Control Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join the Power Delivery team. This on-site role focuses on HV/MV substation protection and control design for utility, renewable energy, and industrial clients.

The ideal candidate leads projects, develops protection packages, relay diagrams, and interconnection drawings, while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with internal teams to meet project objectives.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant engineering experience in substation design.
• Professional Engineer license preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation and Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Design HV/MV substation protection and control systems.
• Develop protection packages and relay diagrams.
• Create AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layouts.
• Lead projects and provide technical guidance to junior staff.
• Coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams and clients.
