Kimley-Horn’s Warrenville, Illinois office is seeking a Substation Protection and Control Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join the Power Delivery team. This on-site role focuses on HV/MV substation protection and control design for utility, renewable, and industrial clients, with opportunities to lead projects and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant engineering experience in substation design.
• PE license preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD E, MicroStation and Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Perform HV and MV substation protection and control design for utility and renewable energy projects.
• Develop protection packages, relay diagrams, wiring diagrams, and interconnection drawings.
• Coordinate with cross-discipline teams and lead projects with limited guidance.
• Review bills of materials for relay panels, control cabinets, and P&C systems.
• Plan client meetings and support commissioning, relay testing, and energization.
