HDR is seeking a dynamic Substation Physical Engineering Team Leader to guide our Power Delivery work in North Carolina, based in Charlotte. This role will manage and grow a skilled engineering team, ensuring high-quality deliverables and on-time project execution.

You will mentor staff, drive technical excellence, and coordinate with clients and leaders to deliver world-class substation solutions across multiple projects in the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 7 years experience in substation design or related field.
• Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments and priorities.
• Leadership and organizational abilities with a client-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Team Management & Development: lead and mentor a high-performing substation engineering team.
• Project Oversight: ensure quality, timeliness and budget compliance across projects.
• Proposal Development: contribute to technical writing and project estimating.
• Strategic Growth & Business Planning: assist in growing technical capabilities in the NC area.
• Technical Leadership & Innovation: stay current with engineering advances and best practices.
• Collaboration & Integration: coordinate with Client Managers and other leaders for seamless delivery.
