Job summary

PSEG Long Island seeks an experienced engineering leader to direct the design, engineering, and procurement of substation equipment for the Long Island transmission and distribution system.

You will provide technical leadership, coordinate with Operations, Planning, and external customers, and ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions while supporting grid modernization initiatives and NY energy policy compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in operation and design of electric substations.
• At least 3 years of direct supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC standards.
• Compliance with DOE 10 CFR 810 is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead a diverse technical team for the design, engineering, and procurement of substation equipment, ensuring reliability and cost-effectiveness.
• Provide technical expertise and support to Operations, Project Management, Planning, Power, and Marketing/Sales departments and external customers.
• Review interconnection proposals (HVDC, FACTS, renewables) for NYISO and CLCPA compliance.
• Evaluate modifications and new facilities identified via planning studies and LI PPTN submissions.
• Develop engineering designs, material specifications, drawings, and technical standards for projects.
• Prepare budgets, cost estimates, and participate in root-cause analyses and engineering studies.
