Job summary

PSEG Long Island LLC is seeking a Sr Manager of Substation Engineering to lead the team responsible for the design, engineering, and procurement of substation equipment supporting the Long Island transmission and distribution system.

The role provides technical leadership, ensures safe and cost-effective solutions, and supports grid modernization, renewable integration, and regulatory compliance with NY energy policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years in operation/design of electric substations.
• 3+ years supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC standards.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering services for substation construction and upgrades.
• Provide technical support to Operations, Project Management, Planning, Power, and Sales.
• Review interconnection proposals (HVDC, FACTS) for NYISO and CLCPA compliance.
• Review modifications to substations and new facilities from planning studies.
• Develop engineering designs, specs, drawings, and standards.
• Prepare budgets and cost estimates; support analyses and calculations.
