Job summary

Leidos seeks a Lead Substation Physical Engineer to deliver high-impact substation designs from 12 kV to 500 kV. You will develop safe layouts, including equipment arrangement, grounding, and foundations, and collaborate with internal teams and clients to meet project goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 8+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection, and lighting studies.
• Strong communication skills with internal teams and clients to support project needs.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced environments.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and client locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver substation physical design projects with technical excellence and on-time performance.
• Collaborate with internal engineering groups and external clients to meet needs and exceed standards.
• Perform detailed QA/QC reviews on substation design packages for accuracy and constructability.
• Read, design, and review substation drawings (one-lines, three-lines, grounding layouts, foundations).
• Create and verify bills of materials for substation components and project requirements.
• Conduct site visits to gather data and validate designs.
